Pet Supplies

When you bring home a new dog or cat, you’ll also need to stock up on a variety of Pet Supplies. Here’s everything you need to know about the subject.

Pet Supplies: A Checklist

Here are some important supplies to buy when bringing a pet home for the first time:

  • Containment system. Whether it’s a permanent bird cage for your budgies, or a carrying case for your new kitty, you’ll need some way to transport them from time to time. All pets need to go to the vet periodically, and you need a way to get them there. These containers can range from a plastic crate to a pet pouch to a glass terrarium.

  • Proper food. Once the housing is figured out, the next step is food and water. Buy feeders or bowls that are the right size for your animal, and consult the experts about what kind of food is best for your pet. Stock up on enough for a few weeks; more than that could go stale before you have the chance to serve it.

  • Grooming supplies. Keeping your pet clean is important, and depending on the type of animal you have, you may want to pick up a brush and some animal shampoo. Toothbrushes are also a good idea for pets with teeth, and clippers might come in handy if you want to keep nails or claws trimmed.

  • Toys. One of the best things about having a pet is buying the chew toys and bouncy balls to keep it entertained. If you buy toys for your pet, make sure to buy quality products that will stand up to chewing, biting, shaking, and throwing. Get items that you can clean easily, and that don’t have small pieces that can break off. Even if you have a pet goldfish, a few plastic plants and some colorful rocks can go a long way toward cheering up the fishbowl.
