Bird Problem

ImageHaving a bird problem can be frustrating, time consuming and in some cases, dangerous. Here’s everything you need to know about how to handle a bird problem.

How do I know if I have a bird problem?

That depends on how you want to define bird problem. Those who are incredibly noise sensitive might define a bird problem as any birds that wake them up in the morning. However, most people are a little more tolerant and would define a bird problem as one that has a negative effect on their house or property.

Too many birds can create a bird problem

One reason you may have a bird problem is if you have roosting birds. Birds are very habitual and will return to their nests year after year so it’s a good idea to stop this problem because it won’t go away. In fact, it will return year after year.

Roosting birds are a bird problem too. This generally means several birds will live in one area such as your gutter, a fence or the trees. It’s a problem because when lots of birds live together, they can create serious health issues. A lot of dangerous bacteria collects in bird droppings, the common household food borne illness, salmonella, being one of them. Other health issues that can cause serious respiratory problems and even death can also be contracted through birdImage droppings.

Birds that nest can also cause bird problems. Nesting birds, like roosting birds, will return to a comfortable safe place year after year. They too need to be dealt with because they can build their nests in your gutters, household vents, bushes next to your door and even your chimney.

Aside from health issues that may arise from this bird problem, nesting birds may also wreck havoc on your house. Gutters that get clogged with birds nests can cause drainage problems and also weigh down the gutter enough that it breaks or snaps.

Simple solutions to bird problems

To get rid of your roosting birds, you can trim your hedges or trees, but this doesn’t guarantee that your bird problem will be solved. More permanent, but equally easy bird problem solutions include putting up bird netting, putting up fake owls to scare the birds away and putting up bird repellant, which is sticky and will deter birds from landing in a given area.

These bird problem solutions are all humane and will not harm the birds.
