What are bird figurines?

Bird figurines are a very general way of describing the fake bird collectables that are out there. Bird figurines come in all shapes and sizes and are made of all different kinds of materials. You can buy ceramic bird figurines, glass bird figurines, plastic figurines and stainless steel figurines.

Bird figurines come with many different decorative exteriors. Some are hand painted, while others are spray painted. Some come with funky designs or colors and others are painted and designed according to the bird their supposed to emulate.

People collect bird figurines for the same reason that they collect anything else. The figures are appealing to them and they obviously enjoy birds. Most bird figurines do nothing more than please the viewer, but there are a few bird figurine-like objects that serve a more practical purpose.

Other quasi-bird figurines that serve a practical purpose are fake owls. Fake owls are not attractive. They're bland and very fake looking, but they can keep birds away from your house and as a result, can prevent them from leaving droppings on your porch or nesting in your gutters.

These bird figurines are inexpensive, but they're not a guaranteed solution to keep birds away from your house. Many times the birds catch on to the fact that the owl, which in nature is a predator for many birds, is fake. Once they realize this, this bird figurine will not be worth as much.

Why birds?

People like to collect bird figurines because wild birds are beautiful, fascinating animals, but they are not good pets and one of the easiest, most humane ways to "capture" them is to buy their plastic or ceramic alter egos in the form of bird figurines.
