Bird Travel Cages

Bird travel cages let you take your bird on car trips, trips to the vet or even long distance plane rides. Here’s everything you need to know about bird travel cages.

Why would I need bird travel cages?

Like dogs, birds like to go on trips. They like to be taken out of their cage because they’re usually confined to their cage 24 hours a day. Bird travel cages let you take your bird on road trips and hikes. Bird travel cages are even designed to take your pet on longer vacations.

What kind of bird travel cages are there?

Like birds, bird travel cages come in all shapes and sizes. You don’t even have to look that hard to find bird travel cages that will fit your bird’s traveling needs. Some bird travel cages are made of hard plastic and open from the top. These bird travel cages look a lot like a small dog or cat carrier. Usually these bird carrying cages have a droppings catcher, so you’re bird doesn’t have to walk around on its own waste.

If you’re going for a hike, you can get bird travel cages that can be strapped to your back. These bird travel cages will usually accommodate a bird that is as large as a medium sized parrot. These bird travel cages are mesh, breathable and see through so your bird can get a good view of what’s going on around it.

You can also get a bird carrying leash. While this isn’t one of the wisest bird travel cages to use when you’re in the car because it lets the birds have more movement than other bird travel cages, it’s great for using if you take your bird to the park.

Things to remember

Finding good bird travel cages is important, but so is remembering to pack a bird care package when you leave on a trip. Birds are like any other animals and they need access to food and water, even if they’re traveling. In fact, it’s especially important to bring these things on a trip because birds can get nervous when they’re in different environments and need all of the home comforts you can give them.

When you get your bird travel cages, make sure the cage has a water and a food dish for your bird. If it doesn’t, make sure you get extra dishes so that your bird can eat and drink while it’s in bird travel cages. It should be noted that not all bird travel cages are conducive to leaving the food in the cage with the bird. You might have to open your bird travel cages and give your bird food at various intervals rather than letting it get bumped around in the bird travel cages.
