    Quail birds are medium sized birds. They have a plume on top of their head which faces a forward direction. This topknot is actually a cluster of 6 plumes but they look like a single feather. Their belly is scaled with buff and black color. These patterns are bolder in male quail birds.

    Quail birds are silent and they do not trouble anybody. Button quail, which is also known as Chinese painted quail, can be kept as a pet.

    During summer, quail birds require fresh water in order to digest the food they are eating. If they go without water, they might die improper digestion.
