Cat Training Collars

Cat training collars are a great tool for pet owners who want to gain better control of their cat. Image Usually, training collars are associated with dogs. But, cats need the same amount of training and it must be done with persistency, consistency and care. A cat training collar is an excellent way to train your cat to walk with you or for let them out on a leash so they don’t run away. Whatever the reason, cat training collars may be the right fit for you.

Training your kitty can be an absolutely thrilling and exciting experience. It takes a very patient person who is willing to spend an ample amount of one on one time with their cat. It is a fact that some breeds of cats are easier to train than others, so take that in consideration when adopting a cat or choosing one to fit your family.

When choosing cat training collars, make sure they are made specifically for cats. You need to also make sure that they properly fit your cat. If it does not fit properly, your cat could escape or it could choke them.

If your cats have never worn cat training collars then you will need to start out slow. First, put the collar on the cat once a day or a couple times a day. Image They need to get accustomed to the feel of the collar before you can even begin training. If they escape from it, just tighten it by one notch.

Once you feel the cats are accepting of the cat training collars then you have made it through step one. Let the cat wear the collar for another day or so, just to make sure they are used to it. Then, slowly introduce the leash. You must go slowly with the leash as well. You could try giving the cat treats when implementing the leash and collar. A little positive reinforcement never hurts when training.

Lastly, take the cat outside on the leash. Slowly let them adjust to the feel of being outside and on a leash. First, walk around the yard. Then try down the driveway. And next, take them for a walk around the block and back again. If your cat gets scared or has anxiety remember the positive reinforcement and bring along a bag of treats. Hopefully, the end result of introducing cat training collars is taking your cat for a full walk with no problems what so ever.
