The consistency of ten minutes is important because it will hold your cat's attention without tiring them and keep them interestedin what you’re trying to teach them.
The most common way to provide positive reinforcement is by giving your cat some scrumptious treats to reward his successes for the day. This can lead to problems, though, so it’s highly suggested that you use other methods of rewarding your cat’s good behavior. Try scratching him behind the ears, under the chin, or between the shoulder blades when he’s performed well. These are places most cats love to have scratched, and if you combine this affection with vocal praise, he’ll soon realize just how much he wants to do well. Your joyful, soothing voice and loving petting will be all the positive reinforcement he needs, and you’ll be able to give treats as a favorite dessert, not as a reward.
If your cat training is unsuccessful, you need to re-evaluate your plan and decide what really works for your cat. 
For example, if you’re training your cat consistently, but you notice he is not using the litter box as frequently as he should, make sure that you are cleaningthe litter box often. Cats are sometimes picky animals who will refuse to use an unclean litter box. Make sure you’re giving your cat enough praise and attention when he does what you want him to, and that you’re being consistent with your training. If you allow your cat to lose interest or do not give your cat the attention he deserves, he may very well ignore your training efforts.
