Country of Origin: Siberia
Historical Information: Brought to Alaska in 1909, they were used during a diptheria epidemic in 1925 to bring medicine by sled to the ill in the city of Nome.

Health Issues: Only prone to hip dysplasia and occasional eye problems (mostly in males) this is a relatively healthy breed. Some lines can suffer from a zinc responsive dermatitis, which can be remedied with a supplement.
Exercise Needs: This Husky needs a fair amount of exercise; be careful during the warmer months as they are sensitive to the heat.
Grooming Needs: Minimal grooming is needed for this pooch; comb regularly during the high shedding season.
Travel Needs: If in the car, for the safety of you and your pet, be sure to have him secured in a seat belt. Bring plenty of food, water and treats and make sure that your pup has proper identification.
