Dog Burial Or Cremation

Dog Burial

Losing your beloved pet is always difficult, no matter how it happens. But having to decide how to take care of her remains while you're still grieving can only make the situation worse. Here are a few tips to know about burial options:

·  Many veterinarians will take care of the burial process for your pet, or even make arrangements with a pet cemetery. Ask your vet ahead of time about his or her recommendations.

·  Pet cemeteries will handle all the details of your pet's burial. When selecting a pet cemetery, be sure to ask how the pets are buried. Some cemeteries offer private burial plots, while others bury multiple pets together and then offer a memorial wall or plaque for each animal. Some cemeteries also have crypts or mausoleums for animals, if you don't want your pet buried in the ground. Prices will vary depending on your choices, too.

·  Home burials are legal in many states; check with your local government to see if it is an option for you. Many owners prefer to bury their canine companions in a garden spot at home. If you do, make sure to wrap the remains in plastic and put them in a sturdy box of plastic, wood, or metal. Dig a hole at least three feet deep to keep other animals from disturbing the gravesite.

·  Whether you bury your pet at a cemetery or at home, you can find a wide range of stone monuments or memorial stones, easily personalized with the information that's important to you. Check your local Yellow Pages or search online for pet memorial stones.

Dog Cremation

If you don't like the idea of burial, you might want to consider cremation. Most pet cemeteries also offer cremation services and sell a variety of urns to hold the cremated remains.

Ask the crematorium what their process is. Some places will cremate pets separately, but others will cremate multiple animals at once and then simply divide up the remains among the owners. This means what you have in your pooch's urn might include other animals as well.

Whether you choose Dog Burial or Cremation, you should find a company that you trust to treat your beloved companion with the respect and dignity she deserves.
