Dog Behavior and How to Make it Work for You
When you bring home a new dog, your first priority should be to teach it the rules of the house and environment. Dogs crave a strong leader, and if you don’t step up, your dog surely will.
From the first day, make sure the dog knows you’re in charge. Make sure he knows that certain behaviors will not be tolerated. Don’t let him get away with something naughty, even if it’s incredibly cute and you want to see it again. Everything you do will teach your dog what he can and can’t get away with. Routine and habit are good for your dog, 
and if you make him consistently see that certain behaviors don’t bring
rewards, he will eventually stop doing them.
Sometimes a dog will start a behavior that is really unacceptable. This could include chewing on furniture, growling at people, excessive potty accidents in the house even after being housetrained, or constantly running away. Once in a while a professional trainer can really help curb some of the more serious behaviors you want your dog to avoid.
