Dog doors are great for allowing your pet to come inside and go outside to the backyard as she pleases. Gates stop the dog from going where they´re not supposed to go.
Things to consider:
Easy Adjustment – Dog doors and gates can be intimidating to a dog at first, but you can help her adjust by making it fun. You could throw one of her toys through the flap in her dog door and watch her run out after it. Then, you call her back and praise her as she comes back through the flap into the house, even if she forgot the ball.
Age & Size Matter – When buying dog doors and gates, you need to be sure to take your dog´s age and size into account. To extend the life of your dog door install it flush with the floor at first and then re–install it at higher levels as they grow.
Tricks for Gates – The best thing to do is train your puppy as young as possible. Dog gates seem more intimidating the younger a puppy is, and as they grow older, they will not register that the gate becomes smaller. If your dog learns to jump over the gate, you can raise it a few inches when you set it up. If you are patient and resourceful, you can get a lot of mileage from your dog doors and gates.
