Angelfish breeding will increase the amount of angel fish that live in your tank. It may even bring in a few bucks if you get good at it and decide to sell the angel fish that you breed.

Getting started

The first thing you need to do when angelfish breeding is get a pretty good understanding of the fish you’re about to breed. Angel fish are tropical fish that originated in South America. They are beautiful tropical fish and come in many different colors. They’re pretty easy to care for, but expect to live in clean conditions. If they’re forced to live in dirty conditions, they will get sick.

Setting up the tank

Before you embark on your fist angelfish breeding adventure, you need to set up your tank. A tank should be at least a 20 gallon tank and should be a tall rather than a wide tank. A tank of this size will give the angelfish plenty of room to spread out when they breed. Angelfish breeding is much more difficult in small, cramped areas.

The tank also needs to have the right water temperature or angelfish breeding will be very difficult. Your temperature should be around 80-83 degrees Fahrenheit because this is the temperature that the fish are used to in their natural habitat. You have a little more freedom with the pH level of your tank as the pH level can between 5 and 8.7.

The water also needs to be changed out (at least 30 percent) once a week. Angelfish breeding requires a constant source of new clean water. Any filter that is placed in the tank should be slow moving as angelfish are used to living in environments with slow moving water.

You also need to put plenty of plants in your tank because when angelfish are engaged in angelfish breeding, they tend to spawn on plants. Many angelfish are very particular about their breeding habitat and will not breed if the area isn’t perfect.

Choosing the right fish

Successful angelfish breeding requires two very healthy, top of the line adult angelfish. When you start searching for two angelfish to breed, make sure that the fish you choose are round in body, have straight fins, do not show any sign of discoloring, have good coloring and have a good temperament.

If you are not choosey about the two fish that you decide to breed, your angelfish breeding experiment might result in sick, colorless fish.
