Read About Picture of a Fish with the Disease Ich

The easiest way in which to learn to diagnose common freshwater fish diseases is to find a picture of a fish with the disease Ich. Ichthyophthiriasis or "Ich" is the most common of all freshwater fish diseases. Characterized by small, white pustules resembling pimples or grains of salt which concentrate mostly on the fish's fins, Ich is, regrettably, much easier to diagnose than it is to treat.

If you think your fish might have Ich, the first place to start would be to go online or purchase a book which can show you a picture of a fish with the disease Ich. This will help you get a good idea of what it means to say that the condition resembles white pimple-like pustules, or granules of salt that have been glued to your fish's tail. There's nothing, after all, like having a visual comparison with which to use when attempting to diagnose your own fish

If you are already familiar with the symptoms of Ich or feel fairly certain that it is what your fish has come down with, well, then a picture of a fish with the disease Ich won't likely add that much to your informational arsenal-other than reinforce your idea so that you can get right down to finding a treatment.

Unfortunately, even though Ich is an incredibly common disease, there isn't one single treatment that can help. However, there are several treatment and preventative alternatives available commercially. The idea when trying to treat Ich, though, is to remember that it's not easy. Ich is a particularly aggressive and contagious condition that can quickly spread throughout your entire tank

What happens is that the white pustules, or pods, eventually break open and float down into the gravel or rock of your aquarium. This is when they are vulnerable and is, in fact, the only time in which you can effectively treat the disease. If it is not stopped at this point, then the pods (which are actually forms of parasites) will break open and begin to multiply in great numbers, attaching themselves to other fish. It's imperative, if your tank has the symptoms of an Ich outbreak, to combat the parasites before they have a chance to multiply and infect the rest of your aquarium

Still unsure how to diagnose and treat this common freshwater fish disease? Or maybe you're more of a visual person and need to see these pustules and pods for yourself. If that's the case, then finding a picture of fish with the disease Ich will be the best, and maybe only, way for you to recognize, diagnose, and treat this potentially devastating fish affliction.
