Whitetail Breeders

Whitetail deer are great breeders if they're given optimal breeding conditions. Good whitetail breeders try to offer these conditions to the deer so they produce strong, healthy offspring.

Whitetail deer

Whitetail deer are very common in the western part of the United States. They live in herds and are characterized by their tan coat and white, heart shaped bottoms. These animals are not endangered and are very popular among hunters. Some hunters opt to find whitetail deer in the wilderness while other hunter choose to hunt whitetail deer that have been raised by whitetail deer breeders.

Whitetail deer breeders will raise deer on a large piece of land, put them together when breeding conditions are right and then release the deer to another part of the land that is open to hunters that pay a fee for using the breeder's services.

Where can I find whitetail breeders?

Whitetail breeders tend to be located in the western part of the country. This is because living in a whitetail's habitat increases the likelihood that the deer will breed. Whitetail deer like and blend well with trees and prairie grasses. They like areas that are full of shrubbery and trees and they love to feast on tall grasses and sage brush. Whitetail breeders own large pieces of land and will often move the deer from one piece of land to the other to allow the current feeding field to grow. This rotation keeps the field healthy and keeps the deer well fed.

Getting the deer to breed

Whitetail breeders generally have a deer population that includes deer of all ages that are at all stages of maturity. Many whitetail deer will breed while they're still fawns. Others start breeding after they've reached full maturity. Whitetail breeders can make the decision as to when they want the deer to start breeding.

Whitetail deer breeding season tends to be from October to November. When whitetail breeders put does (females) and bucks (males) together, they can expect the buck to mate with up to 20 different females. This increase the chance of that particular buck producing offspring. Whitetail breeders want to make sure that their high quality bucks that come from good stock breed with plenty of females.

Whitetail breeders luck out because their animals almost always have more than one baby. This helps the whitetail deer population keep its numbers up. After the babies are born, whitetail breeders decide whether to keep the deer or to send them into hunting pastures where they can be hunted and killed.
