Breeding is a challenging responsibility. Infant birds needs lots of attention and require even more patience. You should facts that into consideration before committing to breed and raise birds.
Things to Consider:
Placement of Nest Box – When cage breeding, you´ll get better results by attaching the nest box to the outside of the cage, rather than placing on the inside.
Perch for the Male – If you´re using a nesting box outside the cage, you should place a perch in the cage, close to the nesting box entrance, so that the male has a place to sit and watch over the female and her eggs.
Don´t Over – Stimulate – Though you may be tempted to place a light near the nesting box for additional light and warmth to the baby birds, this would actually be detrimental to the health of the babies. The darkness of a nesting box keeps the baby birds from being overactive, allowing them to gain weight and strength.
