Read About Choosing Cages for Small Birds

Though your bird is small, he still needs enough room to really spread his wings and jump around. In fact, some small birds need more room because they´re so active.

Things to Consider:

  • Keep Away from TV – If possible, you should try to keep your bird at least 10 feet away from a television. The sudden loud noises on T.V. can frighten your bird, making it nervous, and possibly causing a heart attack in smaller birds.

  • Keep Your Bird Social – Birds are social creatures. When you´re picking a location for the birdcage, you should try to pick a room, where members of the household congregate and spend most of their time, such as in the living room.

  • Watch for Sharp Edges – The cage that you are considering shouldn´t have sharp edges and should be easy for you to open. Some smarter bird species learn how to open simple cage fasteners, so you might want to consider that fact when checking the fasteners!
