Vitamins for Cats

Whether your cat is a newborn kitten or a senior adult, vitamins play an important role in his health. It is essential that you know exactly what vitamins your cat needs and why. If you take the time to learn about them, it will be easier in selecting foods that contain the vitamins he needs. You should consider the following when thinking about food for your cat:

  1. Cats need Vitamin A in order for their bodies to function on a cellular level. In order for their bodies to produce more cells and keep their systems working properly, they must ingest Vitamin A. Cats do not have the ability to produce or synthesize Vitamin A from their natural form, so they must consume meat that comes from an animal that has already processed the Vitamin A.
  2. Vitamin B is another vitamin that is vital to your cat's health, yet your cat's body cannot produce it on its own. Your cat must obtain this Vitamin B by consuming meats that contain the already processed vitamin. Arginine is a kind of amino acid that our cat desperately needs to survive. However, his system cannot produce this acid. Cats need a lot of protein in their diet. Arginine helps break down the waste products of protein so they can pass it without causing any harm to their bodies.

  3. Taurine is another essential in your cat's diet. Taurine is a type of amino acid, which aids several functions. Without it, your cat could go blind, suffer heart failure, and have trouble with their reproductive systems.

It is imperative that you feed your cat meat as all the above-mentioned vitamins come from meat sources.
