Naming Your Pet

Your pet's name will define its character. Your pet is depending on you to chose a name that will match its personality. A Greyhound may not like to be called Pokey, nor a Pitbull, FiFi. Take a good look at your pet. Is your pet small and frail? Spike may not be a suitable name, nor would Butch. Is your pet large and muscular? Peanut or Dimples would probably not be a good fit. When choosing a pet's name there are many sources to consider. ImageBelow are some suggestions, however original names are always in good taste when naming a pet. First are popular animal names. Popular pet names are common names given to pets. These are the names you hear called out in every vet's office and every park on a Saturday afternoon. Popular pet names include Lucky, Oreo, Max, Fido, Whiskers, Chewy and Puddles. Another option when choosing a name for your pet is looking to the stars. There have been some famous animals over the years with some pretty great names. These include Otis, Scooby, Rin Tin Tin, Yogi, Booboo, Minnie, Lady and Daisy, to name a few. Next are historical names, those that go way back into history. These include Aristotle, Euripides and Homer, along with many others. In some cases, it may be hard to determine the sex of the pet. With dogs and cats, it is usually quite evident. However, with birds and small animals it can be a little tricky. In these cases you may want to consider a unisex name, avoiding anything that denotes masculinity Imageor femininity. These names include Buttons, Boots, Mittens and Fluffy. When choosing a name for your pet, keep in mind that the name will most likely link to his personality. A pet named Puddles will most likely be clumsy. A pet named Chewy will most likely be mischievous. A pet named Scooby will most likely be a little silly. Don't agonize over choosing a name. Go with your first instinct, as this would be a true reflection of the pet's personality. Your pet will certainly live up to the name you give him. Keep in mind that this is the name you will have to call him while chasing him through the neighborhood, bringing him to the vet and introducing him to company for their whole life. Ensure that it is a name you are comfortable saying in public and is suitable for children. Everyone is sure to ask you what your pets name is.
