    This medium-sized slender python has a long neck and a big head that is much broader than the neck. The head is covered in small scales, and the lips are prominently pitted. Hatchlings are monochromatic, patterned in black and gray. Adults can be a stunning yellow or gold on black. Adults tend to add a black sootiness to the yellow areas of pattern as they age. Some older adults become very dark. Some specimens have a pale vertebral stripe. The head has a well-defined pattern, resembling skull and crossbones.

    The Jungle Carpet python is a small to medium python. The maximum size of the adult is about six to seven feet. With all ages, these pythons are very arboreal snakes.

    Jungle Carpet pythons come from a small area in Queensland in the northern Australia. This regions is more commonly referred to as the Atherton Tableland.

    The Jungle Carpet python is well-suited for a naturalistic vivarium because of their bright contrasting colors of black and yellow, and because of their smallish size and arboreal habits.
