Read About Bird Miscellaneous Breeds

There are so many different Bird Breeds available, choosing one for a pet can be a big decision. Here are a few things to consider when choosing your pet bird’s breed.

Cage Size

The amount of room that you can dedicate to your new pet will be one of the determining factors in its breed. How large of a cage can you afford? Your pet deserves as much room as you can give it. While smaller birds like parakeets, cockatiels, and lovebirds can be kept in smaller cages, they will still require a lot of free time outside of their cage. Larger birds like macaws, toucans, parrots, and cockatoos will not only require bigger cages but a play gym also. You may wish to consider building an aviary to give your bird the ultimate home space.

Ability to Talk

Many people are interested in buying a bird that they will be able to teach to talk. If that is so in your case, consider purchasing a grey parrot, which is probably the most vocal breed. Following it would be the macaw, cockatoo, and eclectus.

Time Commitment

When choosing your new pet bird, consider how much time you will be able to spend with it. Smaller birds make less of a mess and therefore will require less clean-up time; however, they will still need "bonding" time with you. The larger birds will also need playtime out of their cage, as well as time spent playing with you.

Price Range

While money should not be one of the first considerations in buying your bird, it will play a factor. Parakeets and smaller birds are usually the cheapest, while the larger, exotic birds can be quite expensive. Sometimes the price can vary depending on the color of the bird and how much or little handling it has had. Regardless, when you purchase your bird, make sure to stay in your budget.
