Once you’ve settled on the breeds that interest you, remember that the personality traits and characteristics are only general. There is no guarantee that your cat will conform exactly to the general traits or intelligence levels. They only serve as a guideline for average performance across the breed.
Consider joining a cat club in your area to gain more recommendations and hear about real-life experiences from people in the know. You can never have too much information!
