If you want to purchase a cat, there are a number of things you should know about.
Diet
The right food for your new cat is important, especially if you’ve adopted a kitten. You should talk to your vet about what you can do to insure your cat is a healthy eater, and be sure to feed the recommended amounts.
Potty-training
Unless you want to teach your cat to use the toilet, you will want to have a litter box ready. If you will be letting your cat outdoors, you can eventually get to the point where you can simply let the cat out and freely roam. Experts aren’t sure when is the right time to do this, but usually after a year a cat knows how to find its way home.
Cat Scratching
You cat will want to develop its claws, and usually he or she will do this by clawing on the furniture. You may either consider declawing your cat, or getting a scratching post. Other remedies include instant discipline for when you catch ‘em in the act.
Medicine
Cats need their regular trips to the vet, as well as their vaccinations. Your vet can provide you a list of exactly what your cat needs.
Spaying and Neutering
Don’t forget to have your cat spayed or neutered. This is important not only for population control, but for the health and happiness of your furry friend.
