Purchasing the right cleaner for your pipe lines will ensure a safe, sanitary, and healthy environment for both you and your livestock.
Things to Consider:
Liquid or Powder? – These are two main types of cleaners available for purchase. Depending on the amount of pipe lines you need to clean and how often, both can stand up to a hard-to-clean milking system. Typically, the powder formula will work for a deeper clean, and the liquid can be used everyday cleaning.
Check your Water – You will need to determine the mineral content (or hardness) of your water before you begin cleaning in order to create the right cleaner concentration. Too many minerals in the water can weaken or even neutralize your detergent's strength.
Date & Proper Storage – Cleaners can lose their strength after a while if they become too old, or are stored in high heat. Be sure to date your cleaners (if not marked already) and refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the recommended shelf time. Properly storing your cleaners is also essential, particularly in a temperature-controlled environment.
