Read About Choosing Farm Gates-Hardware

To build a solid gate, you need the proper hardware that can withstand almost anything, from harsh weather to years of continued use.

Things to Consider:

  • Easy Opening – If the bottom of your fence is digging into the dirt or has become difficult to open and close, especially while you're herding animals, you might consider installing a wheel at the bottom of your fence to make it much easier to maneuver.

  • Sagging Fence – If your old fence is starting to sag a little, it might be time for some sturdier hardware. Select pieces that are heavy duty and will not rust or bend, as some smaller, decorative pieces can.

  • One Way/Two Way – Unsure of which way your fence should swing open? You can install a fence latch that allows two-way opening. If your animals are right up against the fence, you can choose to open your gate towards you, instead of backing everyone up.
