As with most things, sometimes it all comes down to money. Naturally you want your horse to have the best of everything. Practically, though, it may be a different story. Before you even go shopping, you’ll need to come up with a realistic budget for your wallet, while at the same time considering your horse’s needs. Do keep in mind that most places will offer some type of financing solutions.

How Many Horses?

Horse trailers come in all sizes and can accommodate up to sixteen horses comfortably. How many horses will you need to transport? If you have one horse that you wish to transport for leisure purposes, there is no need to get a large trailer. However, if yours is a family of horse owners that frequents events, it may be worthwhile to look into getting a larger trailer to transport all of the horses.

Certain models of horse trailers simply hitch onto the back of a truck’s bumper, while others are of the “gooseneck” model. Many of the larger, more luxurious trailers have a living and sleep space for owners as well. The top-of-the-line models include a bathroom and kitchen area also.

Most horse trailers will include room for the horse’s tack, windows, floor mats for the stalls, a feed station or nosebag, at least one head tie per stall, lights in the stalls, and either slant- or straight-load ramp.
