Pet Services

There are many Pet Services available to animal owners across the country. Here’s everything you need to know about the subject.

Finding Pet Services in Your Area

When you get a new pet, a whole world opens up to you that you may not have noticed before. There are businesses in every town dedicated to helping you care for your pet. It’s a good idea to become acquainted with the available services in your area. Here are some of the common services you will find:

  • Veterinarian. This should be a no-brainer. Every pet needs to have a vet, and should visit the vet for regular checkups and routine vaccinations. Finding a good vet should be task number one after getting an animal. Check your local Yellow Pages, or ask other pet owners who they’ve used and liked.

  • Groomers. Keeping your pet clipped, shampooed, and trimmed is an important part of care for many types of animal. Check out your local groomers. You can ask your vet if he or she has particular preferences, or you can find local addresses and phone numbers online, too.

  • Pet supply stores. You’ll probably become very familiar with your local pet supply store, because it’s where you’ll go to buy practically everything you need to care for your pet. You can find food, bedding, crates, toys, treats, books, leashes, grooming supplies, and more at these stores, including a lot of good advice and information. Some pet supply stores hold periodic vaccination clinics or classes on obedience and training for your pet.

  • Pet sitters. If you don’t have family or friends who can watch your pet for your while you’re out of town, you might have a need for a professional pet sitter. These pros can come into your house and keep your pet fed and watered, and can also offer time and attention. You’ll want to hire someone who has a lot of positive references; check them out for your own safety and your pet’s safety.
