What is Eqvalan? Eqvalan is a horse wormer. It is used for the treatment and control of certain large and small strongyles, pinworms, roundworms (ascarids), hairworms, large-mouth stomach worms, bots, lungworms, certain summer sores, and skin lesions caused by neck threadworm microfilariae.Who is it for? Eqvalan is for horses only.What are the benefits? Treats certain strongyles, pinworms, roundworms (ascarids), hairworms, large-mouth stomach worms, bots, and lungworms Treats summer sores caused by Habronema and Draschia Treats skin lesions caused by neck threadworm microfilariae Given in a single dose How does Eqvalan work? Eqvalan contains ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug that is thought to paralyze the parasite.Is there a generic equivalent available? Yes, such as Ivercide. A generic paste form is also available.How is it given? Oral Eqvalan is administered as a liquid to horses by stomach tube or drench. Because of safety issues and the need for proper administration, it is recommended that oral Eqvalan for horses should only be administered by a veterinarian.What results can I expect? Eqvalan will kill certain types of adult worms, but not immature worms. Therefore, a regular deworming program needs to be determined by you and your veterinarian.
