Many dogs love to travel; they love the new environments and even the long car rides to exciting destinations. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when Traveling With Your Dog:
Start small. Rather than introducing your pooch to travel by taking her on a one-month jaunt across the country, start out by taking small trips until you’re confident she can handle it. Take a day trip upstate or to apple country, and see how she fares. If she seems to enjoy it, try a weekend trip to the cabin. Then go from there.
Bring everything you need. Whether you’re traveling by plane, train, or automobile, you’ll want to make sure you have all
the supplies your dog might need. These will include some favorite
toys, food and water bowls from home, special treats, and any necessary medications. You’ll also need a crate or cage for your pooch, her leash, and
grooming tools.
Keep her comfort in mind. Think of your pup as a small child, with the same needs for attention,
food, potty times, and snuggling. Don’t make her go long periods without eating or
eliminating. Even if you don’t need to stop and rest, she may need to get out of the car and run around for a minute or two.
