The Purpose

Most Horse Breed Associations are formed for the purpose of providing horse owners a common place to gather and share information. Like any club, they also serve a social purpose. These associations do a wonderful job of bringing together horse owners with a common interest.

Horse Breed Associations often focus on horse owners in a specific area. Other groups are formed to cater specifically to youth in order to foster an understanding of horses and horse care at an early age.

Mission

These associations have a variety of goals they pursue. Oftentimes they spend a significant amount of time and effort marketing and selling horses, as well as promoting specific breeds. Some are more focused on the racing or the horse show scene. Still others exist with the sole purpose of raising awareness for the dwindling population of specific breeds. These groups are highly interested in horse education and welfare.

An Important Resource for Horse Owners

Nearly all horse associations share a wealth of history about the horses for which they are interested. They are great sources for both owners and prospective owners. Not only do they provide camaraderie, they offer support and information in caring for your horse and sharing the joys of owning horses.

Most groups require completed membership forms as well as a yearly fee for all members. Most owners find membership well worth the price.
