Read About Choosing Axes-Knives-Scythes

Some cool tools, and a little bit of practice with them, will have you taking down troublesome growth in your yard with no problem at all.

Things to consider:

  • Easy Cutting – It is one of the most efficient mowers you will find. It does not make a sound, and there is no motor to start. It is a snath put together with a scythe. The snath is the handle, and the scythe is the blade. By putting a brush scythe on a snath, you´ll be amazed at how easily light brush topples with an easy stroke. A weed scythe will take down tall weed stalks without pulverizing the plants. A grass scythe works wonders when you want to cut down tall grass in a large area.

  • Splitting Secrets – The secret to splitting wood with less effort is to "twist"and "aim." If you twist the axe so that it is at a very slight angle to the direction of travel, your swing will come straight down. When it strikes the wood, the twist of the axe will exert more pressure as it splits than if the axe head hits the wood vertically.

  • Tackling Undergrowth – A ditch bank blade is the tool of choice when the job calls for cutting down brush, briar, or undergrowth. The blade is sharpened on both sides. It works great on jobs that are tougher to cut down than weeds, but too light for an axe.
