What is Misoprostol? Misoprostol is used for the treatment and prevention of stomach ulcers in dogs. It is used to treat stomach ulcers, especially those due to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, etodolac (EtoGesic), deracoxib (Deramaxx), and carprofen (Rimadyl).Who is it for? Misoprostol treats and prevents gastric (stomach) ulcers by protecting the stomach lining and decreasing stomach acid formation. Misoprostol is a synthetic form of a prostaglandin.Is there a generic equivalent available? Misoprostol is a generic medication.How is it given? Misoprostol is given by mouth. May be given with small amount of food if stomach upset occurs. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian.
