Read About Ferret Cages

It's true there aren't as many types of ferret cages as there are cages for cats and dogs, but there's a reason for that. Actually, two reasons. One is not many people keep ferrets as pets, ergo less demand for ferret cages. The other reason is that ferret cages need to be somewhat specialized.

Now a ferret is not a rodent, but they are friendly and they love to scamper around. Ferret cages usually have multiple floors for the animals to play on. They may have shelves and little play stations on the various floors. Most of these will also include some type of ramp for the ferret to run up, from floor to floor.

There are some ferret cages that are large enough to house an entire family of ferrets. These, of course, are much larger than the single units. Before you buy a family size ferret cage, make sure you do an estimate on the weight of the cage, along with an estimated weight of the ferrets you want to house inside of it. Cages with multiple animals can become very heavy and you want to ensure that the table you will place it on is strong enough to hold it.

When shopping for your ferret cages, check to see if the vendor offers any add-on's for the particular cage you like. This might include things like water bowls, feed trays, toys, bedding material , and so on. It is always best to buy add-ons from the original vendor to ensure that they will fit inside your ferret cage. You may also want to check to see that the wire enclosure is coated with some type of epoxy to keep the wire rust free and give years of service. But sure, however, that the epoxy is non-toxic. Also, you may want to check to see if the running ramps are adjustable. As your ferret grows it may need more space on the ramps in order to use them. An adjustable set of ramps would be perfect, for him and for you.

Prices on ferret cages can vary a great deal. The final price you pay is dependent on the style of the cage, the size and any add-ons you may wish to purchase for your little friends. Don't forget to include the price of shipping when you are shopping within your budget.

As with shopping for and buying any animal cage, shopping for your ferret cages should be simple, and it can be if you keep a few things in mind:

Know how many ferrets you will put in the cage and use that as a standard for the sizes you research. Ferret cages that are too small for the number of ferrets will not make your pets happy. Know how much weight your cage and animals will weigh and make sure your table will hold it. Decide on any add-ons that you may wish to purchase. Check the wire material to make sure it is non-toxic.

Doing this steps will make your search for ferret cages much easier.
