Where to Find Them

Cat Shows may not have the coverage of the NFL, but they are all around the United States. Doing a quick web search on “Cat Shows” along with your city or town can reveal all sorts of locations.

How to Prepare

Once you have the date of the show, you need to ask yourself an important question: “Can my cat be ready by then?” preparation is a vital ingredient to win these contests. Not only does your cat have to be as beautifully groomed as possible, but it may need an attitude adjustment. Judges of Cat Shows constantly inspect their feline contestants by touch. If your cat can’t handle this pressure, then he or she is not meant for show-biz!

Cat Show Format

There are many types of cat shows, and they come in two forms: all breed or specialty. An all breed show has cats of all breeds competing for various awards. The specialty show is a competition of similar types of cats, such as shorthair or longhair. There are judges who preside over certain specialty areas, and will then look over the cat and see if it follows the breed standards. The judge then narrows it down to the finals, and the best of the finalists is awarded the “Best In Show”.
