Keeping your bird´s cage clean is vital to the health and well-being of your bird.
Things to Consider:
Wood Perches – If you have wood perches in your birdcage, it´s a good idea to have a few extras on hand. Perches should be cleaned once a week, but the wood ones take quite a while to dry. Having some extras on hand makes it easier to clean the perches and give them adequate drying time.
Thorough Cleaning – Birdcage grates should be soaked and scrubbed once a week to remove any dried droppings or other material. Again, you need to be sure the grate is completely dry before putting it back in the cage.
Disinfect – When buying cleaning products, it is best to look for a cage cleaner that is also a disinfectant, to ensure that you kill any potentially harmful germs or viruses.
